Firefighters are definitely heroic as they risk their lives to save ours, as well as our property. No matter how busy they are, they also manage to serve in less dangerous ways, such as rescuing the occasional cat from a tree.
They never know what type of emergency their next call might bring but most likely, the call they got on this unusual day was a first for the department. The firefighters at California’s Lathrop Manteca Fire District responded to a call of not only a cat stuck up a tree, but also a German shepherd dog.
Apparently, a black cat climbed the tree to get away from the German shepherd. However, the attempt was futile because the dog climbed right up after it. Now they both were stuck, reported CBS Sacramento.
“The dog had climbed up a tree, chasing a black cat and couldn’t find its way back down. Firefighters from Engine 35 got their ladder out and helped the pup back down. They even provided the dog some oxygen when it got back to the ground.”
The firemen reportedly dropped off Santa and the call to rescue the German shepherd came next. Luckily, the dog was fine after receiving some oxygen and a drink of water. Hopefully, it will stay out of trees from now on. Happily, the cat is okay, too.
The good natured heroes at the fire department took it all in stride and posted on Facebook:
“You may have heard that our firefighters get cats out of trees, but what about dogs?!?! Right after Truck 30 and Engine 35 dropped off Santa that was exactly their next call. Glad to hear that all turned out well for this pooch, and we are all pretty sure he’ll think twice about chasing cats up the next tree...nice work Engine 35!”
Please recognize these heroes by sharing this unique dog rescue with your family and friends.
