Adorable Dog Waits For Mailman Everyday So That He Can Greet Him With Hugs

Not all dogs love the mailman and are often portrayed as notoriously mailman ‘unfriendly.’  But this dog not only loves the mailman, he goes outside to get a hug every day!

Moose the golden retriever is an adorable dog that lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He loves his family but also loves the mailman who was recently assigned to his house.

It all began when a new mailman began delivering mail on a new route.  As Moose looked out the window, he must have sensed the new mailman was a dog lover.  Every day Moose would watch the mailman from his window.

After a few weeks, Moose decided he wanted to meet the mailman and as he approached the house, Moose asked to be let outside.  His mom, Meghan Gruszynski, decided to open the door and what happened next was so sweet, we’re glad she videoed it.

As the mailman pulls up in his truck, Moose runs out then patiently sits with tail wagging waiting to meet the man.  The feeling must have been mutual because the mailman gets out of his truck and walks up to Moose.

As the two greet each other, Moose is overtaken with happiness and jumps up on his new friend for a hug.  Clearly the two are instant pals and are enjoying each other’s company.

Since then, everyday Moose waits outside to get a hug from the mailman.  “It was adorable,” Meghan Gruszynski, Moose’s owner, told The Dodo. “I loved how much he loved our boy and loved how much Moose loved saying hi to him.”

A hug from Moose would surely brighten anyone’s day but the family found out that they were very special to the mailman.  Sadly, his dog had recently passed away and Moose is now a very special bright spot in his day.

“I’ve come to find out our mailman’s dog recently passed away,” Gruszynski said. “He loves how much love Moose gives him every time he is out on his route.”

Perhaps the sweet dog sensed that his new friend needed some extra hugs?  We’ll never know for sure but what we do know is that the mailman is not the only one making special deliveries.

Moose is now delivering “care packages” to his new friend every day and they clearly adore each other.  "Hopefully it continues for many, many years!" she said. "He’s our mailman 'til he retires, so it should be fun watching their love."
