Cats are generally seen as unfriendly and mean animals but anyone who has had a cat as a pet knows that this is not true. Cats can be incredibly loving and caring animals. But then again, we have cats who are so completely grumpy it's unbelievable, and a little scary. Perdita is one of these cats.

Perdita was a shelter cat at Mitchell County Animal Rescue in North Carolina, USA. Her personality was so strong she quickly got the label as the "World's Worst Cat". But almost a year after she was put up for adoption, she found her forever home and lives happily with her new family. Or as happily as this grumpy kitty can be.

  • Meet Perdita.
  • She was brought to the Mitchell Count Animal Rescue (MCAR) after her previous owner passed away.
  • The shelter employees believed that she must have been struggling with health issues and experienced trauma in her past, making her an angry cat.
  • But she wasn't sick. She was just a very mean cat, as this poster claims.
  • Apart from this poster, the shelter also included a description of Perdita's personality. It starts ominously.
  • Mitchell County Animal Rescue's director, Amber Lowery, said, “We thought if we highlighted [her personality] in a humorous way, the person with a personality to match hers can adopt.”
  • Perdita received a lot of attention with the creative adoption posts but she was not at all amused.
  • But it definitely got her lots of attention and helped her find her forever home.
  • The shelter's office manager, Brittany Taylor provided further proof of Perdita's meanness: “She pretends like she wants you to pet her and love on her.”
  • Taylor also said, “As soon as you pick her up, she starts growling. She will swat you. She’s just all-out awful.”
  • Despite Perdita's cruel personality, the Internet fell in love with her. People even shared how they had cats like Perdita.
  • But Perdita's got lucky. This wonderful couple beat out the hundreds of applications and adopted Perdita.
  • Perdita is adjusted well to her new family and new home.
  • Her new owners gave her a new name: Noel. They said they changed it in case it was the name that was making her so angry.
  • Like all cats, she is also a big fan of cardboard boxes.
  • She looks so happy here. Maybe the name change is working?
  • Perdita/Noel is definitely a very affectionate kitty now. She loves snuggling with her mum and dad.
  • She also has siblings. This is Bella and these two look very similar, don't they?
  • Perdita/Noel has an Instagram page too and she has almost 15k followers.
  • Despite the tough life she had losing her previous owner, Perdita now has a loving family and a new life as Noel.
