When this sweet little kitten was seriously injured, a kind vet performed surgery to save her life. Now she walks like a duck but it doesn’t slow her down a bit.
When the kitten was rushed to the vet with two mangled front legs, some people may have opted to euthanize her. But in this case, the surgeon decided to try to save her life and performed surgery, which required the amputation of her two tiny front legs.
They think the young cat may have been trying to keep warm near a car engine when the accident happened, according to an Instagram post by the person who ended up adopting her:
“She was brought into my sister’s clinic… thankfully, they have an amazing surgeon that wanted to save her and performed a double amputation. We think maybe (she was) trying to stay warm in the engine bay of a car,” Duck’s human wrote on Instagram.
Despite this, the brave kitty healed up well and soon went to her new foster home. She was named Duck, because now she walked like one. Walking on two legs has not slowed Duck down, nor has it made her sad.
Duck’s human said: “I took her in (as a foster) and she acclimated to her new life quickly. It didn’t take her long at all to adapt and start walking all around the house on her own.”
Duck’s a happy kitten that brings joy to everyone, just as all kittens should. She spends her time playing like a normal cat, only she has a different style. She also lives with three dogs, a cat, and some hens, none of which seem to notice her disability.
At one point her mom tried to get her a harness and a wheelchair thinking it would make life easier for her but Duck prefers to free wheel through life, living it on her terms, as she pleases.
Despite only being 6 months old, Duck has been through a lot but she doesn’t let it get her down. At the worst, she never stopped fighting and we think that makes her one amazing kitty.
Please pass along her inspiring story to your family and friends.
