It is what nightmares are made of, being buried alive in the snow.  Cold and alone, you have no idea which way is up or down, how long you’ll be able to breath, or how long it takes to freeze to death.

You whisper a prayer, hope against hope, when suddenly you think you hear a noise.  In the silence you strain to listen, “yes, I do hear something…”

Suddenly a muffled sound turns into barking and scratching and the snow around you begins to gently shift away.  A cold tiny black nose is face-to-face with yours.  You’ve been found!  You’re saved!  You will live, thanks to a very special search and rescue dog.

In this video, you’ll meet Flo.  A small 4-year-old dog that is highly trained to located people buried in the snow or lost in the wilderness.  This video shows the heartwarming dedication Flo has to saving his victim. He finds the person, pushes the snow away with his little body, and dives in to save the day.  He is a true hero in every sense of the word.

In an avalanche or other emergency, Flo and others like him, suddenly become your best friend and savior.  It does not happen by accident.  The dogs are trained by a nonprofit called Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England.  They are dedicated to training specialized rescue dogs to help find people lost in the wilderness or buried in the snow.

The organization is staffed by volunteers who train the dogs 132 days per year.  It takes 2 – 3 years to grade their dog.  They receive no compensation or government funding.  They are financed solely by public donations.

Their motto is “Volunteers Saving Lives in Wild and Remote Places.”  Their dedication, generosity and kindness will live on in the people they saved.

We are touched by the beauty of this rescue and are so thankful that the kindness of strangers and some wonderful dogs saves lives.

Please share this amazing video with your family and friends.
