Chico’s owner got him to be a guard dog because he thought his wolf-like appearance would help protect his shop.
But it soon became clear that Chico had other plans. He’d rather play fetch, act silly, get lots of pets, and not take life too seriously. So rather than force Chico into a role he wasn’t born for, he became a family pet.
And, from his family home is where he escaped one morning. Chico somehow got out the gate while his unsuspecting owner, Edward, was sleeping. When Edward woke up, he found Chico gone.
Turned out, Chico traveled a mile from home and straight into the Odessa Police Department. At 3:30 am the police department shared pictures of Chico visiting them in hopes of finding his owner.
Soon, the pictures went viral, but Edward hadn’t seen them yet. So, when his nephew showed him the pictures, he was more than surprised to see Chico’s mug in the lobby of the police department because Chico was already back home.
It seems that before the department could reunite him with his owner, Chico ran out of the station and returned home. It must have been past his curfew because Chico wasted no time getting back to Edward.
Of course, Edward was more than happy to have his best friend back safe but had a good laugh over the situation. Edward even took him back to the police department to say hi to his new friends.
We’re so glad Chico made it back safely after his OPD adventure. Social media got a good laugh over the situation and speculated that the dog wanted to apply for a job as a K-9. Chico doesn’t seem too interested, he’d rather play fetch and go back to playing in his yard.
We hope you enjoyed watching Chico. This story also serves as a good reminder to always put identification tags on your pets, even if they live indoors. Please share with your friends.
