On a list of a pet owner's worst nightmares, having your vehicle stolen with your dog inside would have to be near the top of the list. Add in a high-speed chase that ended in a police shootout and the stakes are raised higher still.
A 4-year-old poodle named Monkey was stolen on a Friday when her owner, Carl Sanders, turned his back while pumping gas. The suspect jumped into his Ford pickup and sped off. It was a long weekend, but Carl and his wife got word that their dog had been recovered that Monday. The couple said it appeared Monkey hadn't been well cared for because he drank a gallon of water and ate a whole pack of pepperoni as a treat.
The couple later found out a neighbor spotted their stolen vehicle speeding with their dog still inside and called 911. When the police tried to conduct a traffic stop, the suspect rammed their cars in the stolen truck. At some point, the suspect jumped out of the vehicle and got into a physical altercation with officers and was fatally wounded when deputies were forced to discharge their weapons. Luckily, Monkey was unharmed.
The couple said they both cried "buckets" and were just relieved to have their dog back safely. This is a video you can't miss! From the terror of losing your dog, to the joy of being reunited. This video is a wild ride. And as always, give a like and share!
