Maverick is scared of cats. But this isn’t your normal fear that might cause a pup to just give a cat some space.
Nope, in his case, his fear elicits a much more dramatic response.
Maverick is so terrified of cats that he freezes like a statue when he sees one. So, when his owners decided to decorate their yard with a bunch of black cat decorations, they didn’t consider how Maverick might respond.
But it didn’t take them long to find out. When Maverick walked outside and right into the midst of them all, he froze like a black lab Halloween statue himself.
He stood in place like he was ice. Stiff, he stopped there unmoving for over a full minute before he finally decided to listen to dad and get brave enough to move his catatonic tail and then walk out of the black kitty cluster.
No surprise, his funny reaction quickly went viral with now nearly 2 million views. His owner Adam Flores says it was the first time the dog saw the cats and stopped in his tracks while the rest of the family cracked up over Maverick’s reaction.
Although the consensus is that Maverick was petrified, a pointing lab expert believes that Mav was just pointing at his prey. He doesn’t believe Maverick was a scaredy cat.
Whatever the reason for Maverick’s reaction, the dog is hilarious and instantly became internet famous. Surely, his funny reaction will be the talk of his South Texas town for a long time to come. We just hope Maverick can live it down.
