No one had any idea that Monte would be a rising star when he was rescued from the Animal Services Center, Mesilla Valley, in Las Cruces, New Mexico by HALO Animal Rescue in April 2018.
The adorable 2-year old terrier mix was part of a group of dogs sent to HALO Rescue from the Animal Services Center. The center often sent groups of dogs, sometimes up to 50 at a time, to HALO. They hoped to find Monte a great home.
This super friendly dog was well behaved, loved to give kisses, and apparently at one time in his life, had some training because he knew how to sit and walk on a leash. It was no surprise when scouts from Disney came looking for diamonds in the rough, that Monte stood out to them.
Monte was quickly adopted by the trainers for Disney and began training for his role and living a new lifestyle, which includes filming and publicity appearances. All this has not gone to head because according to the trainers, he otherwise lives a normal life.
If you would like to see Monte in his starring role as Scruffy in Lady and Tramp, it will premiere on Disney’s new streaming service on November 12th, 2019. The canine cast consists of rescue dogs with the voices provided by human celebrities.
Monte's "voice" will be that of actor Justin Theroux, a proud pet parent of his own rescue dog in real life. According to Disney, all the rescue dogs featured in the film found “forever homes” when production ended.
Truly, a happy tale for all! Please share with your family and friends.
