It was supposed to be a pleasant day out on the water but when their Belgium Malinois fell overboard, the boat ride became a nightmare.
Edward and Kristin Cassis were out boating on Lake Michigan when their 10-month-old puppy, Rylee, fell overboard when her owners were distracted by an electrical problem for just a moment.
After the couple fixed their mechanical problem, they realized that Rylee was missing. They quickly searched their entire boat and soon realized the only place that Rylee could be was overboard.
So, they quickly put out a mayday call and asked anyone willing to help search to do so. They began looking for Rylee hoping since the dog could swim, they would find her treading water close by.
At first, they were very hopeful but as the first initial minutes turned into over four hours, panic began to set in. They also had run down their engines and all they could do now is wait for some sign of the dog.
Then came news that a boater claimed they had plucked Rylee from the water and left her on the beach nearby. So, they went to the location and searched the beach, but they couldn’t find Rylee anywhere.
They were distraught over Rylee being lost on the water and hoping for the best. But it wasn’t until the next day that they received a second clue. Someone reported that they saw a dog that resembled Rylee in the woods eight miles away.
They went to the woods searching for their dog when Kristen heard a noise behind her. She turned to see that it was Rylee, and she was so relieved to have found the puppy.
As hard as they had been looking for their dog, their dog had also been determined to find her way home. The super smart puppy had swum 6 miles and walked 12 more to find her owners.
Thankfully, Rylee was okay, and they found her. We are so happy that they are all reunited. We hope you enjoyed the ending of their scary adventure. As always, please feel free to share with your friends.
