Animal rescuers are a special breed. They generously give of their time and money to help save countless animal lives. All of them are special but those that hold a special place in their hearts to help the most wounded dogs and cats are true heroes that deserve our appreciation.
Some of the most broken-hearted dogs act like the most aggressive. They hide their pain and fear behind a mask to try to scare away the people who can actually help them the most. These poor dogs have lived through unspeakable things and need someone to help them survive.
For those that take the time to stop and help, these dogs will often try to scare them away but with perseverance and a little food, it is possible to gain their trust enough to help them survive the streets and discover what wonderful dogs they truly are.
Take these two strays for example. One seems just thankful to have caught the eye of someone who cares but their dog friend acts aggressive and tries to scare away the rescuers. Undeterred, the rescuers put out food for the dog, who eventually, giving in to hunger, decides to eat a bite of kibble.
But somewhere between fear and food, a little miracle starts to happen. The scared dog begins to eat while still warning off the people trying to help him but when you watch the video, you can see his demeanor begin to change ever so slightly.
The rescuer returns with fresh water for both of the dogs and the one retracts into the bushes in fear but then he decides to take a chance and comes forward for the water and that’s when his life begins to change.
After he takes a drink, he decides to accept her love and allows himself to be touched for the first time in who knows how long. He’s still nervous but eats from her hand and decides to accept kindness from a stranger.
According to Stray Furry Friends:
“Hi! I am dog lover! There are more than 20,000 stray dogs in my region. Shelters are overcrowded and don’t take new dogs, so stray dogs have to survive on the streets cold winters and hot summers… I help them as much as I can: bring them food and water, treat, vaccinate, spay, and neuter I want to set an example to others to care for animals and to not be afraid to open your arms for help and love!”
This woman has the biggest heart and tries to help all the dogs she can. What an amazing person. Please bring awareness that sometimes there is not enough room in the shelters and street dogs need love too.
