Cape May’s Police Department had some fun recently when they found an adorable runaway in their precinct. It’s always nice to see some lighthearted news, so enjoy this article!
Bean, a local Pug dog, escaped from her Cape May home. She had been caught sneaking from backyard to backyard! Her owner had been searching for her without knowledge that the pooch was having a little bit of fun in the county jail! Nobody involved realized that the silly mug shots and time in the jail cell would go viral on social media!
Patrolman Michael LeSage responded to a call from a family who said the dog was in their yard. He said he tried to get Bean to hop in the back of his police car, "but her short little legs couldn't make it into the car, so I had to lift her up."
Police spent the rest of the night having some fun with the runaway pug and posting the pictures on the department's Facebook page. The posts went viral in less than a day!
"I never expected it to get to this point," LeSage said Monday afternoon.
Thankfully Bean was returned to her owner without any problems, shortly after a neighbor saw the viral Facebook post and told the owner about it.
"The pug's owner has been located, and he has been released on bail," police joked over Facebook.
Hadley Hubbard piped in on the social media post to identify herself as Bean's owner.
"Bean is sound asleep at home after an exciting afternoon on the run," she commented.
