Senior Special Agent Bryan Schaffer has been honored to have a faithful partner in K-9 Faust. The two have worked together for eight years in Certified Explosives Detection and Patrol Police for BNSF Railway. BNSF operates one of the largest railroad networks in North America, covering the western two-thirds of the United States. They play a vital role in the U.S. economy, hauling the products consumers use every day and the raw materials manufacturers need to make those products.
Needless to say, this dynamic duo have been quite an asset to the company. So it was a big deal to many people when the day came for K-9 Faust to retire. He didn’t quite understand what was going on when he got into the vehicle with his partner that day. But emotions were about to run high as what turned out to be quite a special send-off unfolded.
Officer Schaffer radioed in to make the final call to honor Faust, and the dog reacted as if he knew exactly what was going on.
With a whimper and a kiss, the K9 nuzzled in toward his partner one last time on the job.
However, they’re both thankful to report that it wasn’t the last time they would be able to hang out! Schaffer couldn’t let Faust just go on his way, he had to have him. So he adopted him in to his family. He took to Facebook to write a thank you to his former work buddy: “Faust, thank you for all the good you have done for BNSF and other agencies – but mostly I thank you for getting us both home safe after every shift.” What a beautiful moment.
Thank you for your service, officers! SHARE to spread the love of our K-9 units and their partners nationwide. We honor you!
