Troubled to find a name for your pitbull pup? Don't worry. We're here to help!
They're the most popular dog breed in America, and for good reason: they are loyal, smart, and incredibly fun to be around. But if you want a pitbull puppy, there's one thing you should know before you get started: it might not be as easy as you think!
Pit bulls originated in the early 19th century in England for popular spectator sports such as bull and bear wrangling. When such sports began to be considered inhumane and became illegal in 1835. They began to be used for dogfighting - and there looms dog aggression in the generational line of the pit bull. But dogfighting has also left a silver lining. The handlers wanted to separate the dogs in the fight so that they would not get hurt. So the pit bull developed the trait of not wanting to bite people. Pretty soon they became known as a strong protective breed but were also known for being gentle and family-friendly.
When the pit bull accompanied immigrants to America, he began a new career as a versatile farm dog. Their jobs included hunting wild game, guarding property and animals and most importantly being loyal companions to farmers. The settlers in America bred a larger pit bull ( American Pit Bull Terrier) than had been previously seen in England.
The Pitbull is a loving dog and doesn't know that his size and build are intimidating to some people. They are confident and intelligent guard dogs - the pitbull doesn't so much mean it, that he is aggressive towards strangers, rather he goes to greet them and barks to alert you. Although their love for people makes them guard dogs, their courage is unsurpassed and they will defend their family with their lives.
