These fox twins were abandoned as pups and would have never made it without the help of their kind rescuer.
Patsy Gibbons from County Kilkenny Ireland never expected to become the dad to two orphaned fox cubs but that is exactly what happened. And now, he takes his foxes all over the countryside and has become somewhat of a fox celebrity.
It all began when Gibbons found two baby foxes that had been abandoned. He nursed the pups back to health probably thinking they would eventually return to nature, where they came from.
But the cute foxes had other plans. After they made a full recovery, they decided to stay with Gibbons and show no interest in returning to the wild. Happy to look after the foxes, Gibbons has become their caretaker and friend.
The three of them are very chummy. The foxes are very attached to Gibbons and like to go places with him. So much so, they’ve become little celebrities for the local school children and are often invited to the schools so the kids can get a close-up look at them.
He named the foxes Grainne and Minnie and now people from all over the United Kingdom reach out and ask about the foxes. They want advice on how to care for them. Gibbons is always happy to share what he knows but makes it clear that he’s no expert:
Gibbons told The Irish Examiner. “I’m no expert and I’m still learning from them day-by-day (but) I’m happy to advise as a lay person.”
However, he is an expert in being a great friend to the cute fox cubs. It’s clear the way they ride on his shoulders and allow him to handle and snuggle them that they are bonded to Gibbons and have put their trust in him.
The fox cubs are adorable and it’s so awesome to be able to see them up close and personal. It’s not every day that a person has a chance to have an encounter with wild animals such as these two.
We hope you enjoyed this sweet rescue story. As always, please feel free to share with your friends.
