If you’ve ever taught your dog to wear booties, you know what a process it can be. Shoes are something dogs must get used to and while they do, their reactions to them can be hilarious…
Even when you’re a brave police K9.
It was determined that Jary, a K9 for the Rapid City Police Department, needed snow booties to carry out his business of capturing bad guys so his handler got to work fitting him with the perfect pair.
Jary had never worn shoes before so putting them on was a first for the K9. But Jary was a good boy and was patient while they fitted him. And, once they were on “as good as they were going to get,” Jary got to walk in them for the first time.
And that’s when the hilarity began.
The Rapid City Police Department posted a video of K9 Jary, a K9 getting used to his boots and it quickly went viral. There are plenty of laughs as officers watch Jary try to walk in them for the first time.
It’s as if Jary is a puppet with someone else controlling the strings. He takes some awkward, high steps, and even suspends his back leg in the air as he tries to figure out what is going on with his paws.
Soon enough he has four on the floor but still doesn’t have his normal stride. His handler decides to try to distract him with a toy, which looks like it might work until he throws it then it’s clear, Jary is still high-stepping, and everyone is laughing.
Despite the hilarity, Jary must get used to his winter boots. The entire department was preparing for the cold, the department said in a Facebook post:
“It's cold out there, which means making sure all our officers are equipped for the chilly weather, even the furry ones! Looks like K9 Jary's new snow boots are going to take some getting used to.”
Despite the laughter in the funny video, being a K9 is serious business, and the shoes will help Jary and the other officers stay safe. The department shared on Twitter:
“When it's cold and snowy out, but you're a furry officer who still needs to catch the bad guys... #K9Unit #DogBoots”
We hope you enjoyed this hilarious video. No, Jary, the floor is not lava-it will soon be ice. As always, please feel free to share with your friends.
