She was simply one of 4,000 other beagles that lived in a testing lab. Known as CMF CWJ, she didn’t even have a name. At only one and a half years old, her life was bleak but all that was about to change.
Number 3.427 out of 4,000 dogs, she had a tattoo on her ear to identify her. She had never been outside of her cage when she was rescued, along with the rest of the beagles. She had never walked on grass or even enjoyed the sun on her back.
So, when she was taken from the lab by Beagle Freedom Project, she had no idea what to do. But she now had a name and people who cared about her future. They named her Tashi and little did she know, she was about to begin living the life she deserved.
When Tashi walked on grass for the first time, she tucked her tail but was a brave girl. She sniffed the ground and looked around. She even got to sit in Rocky Kanaka’s lap and began to enjoy her first day out.
What was first on the list for Tashi to do? A Puppycino, of course. In fact, Tashi got two! Which she lapped up as if she had been getting them her whole life. Next, she’d get to taste new foods and go shopping where everything she touched, she’d get to keep.
All this was to prepare her for an upcoming adoption event. But there were more beagles than adopters so there was a chance she wouldn’t be chosen. Would this be the day she gets a family that loves her? Rocky Kanaka promised her he would do his best to help her so off they went shopping.
It didn’t take Tashi long at the store to figure out what fun was about. She raced through the store and picked out all sorts of toys and even a watermelon dog bed. The only thing she didn’t get to take home was a real-life kitty cat.
The next thing she got to do was go to a doggy daycare to have some fun with other dogs. She had never been in that environment before, but the sweet pup was willing to try it. Rather than try to hide, she met some dogs that would help her learn to dog.
Turned out, Tashi loved meeting new doggy friends except for one hyper pup who was a little overwhelming. After his energy left the room, she began to relax again and got to enjoy the company of other dogs.
Tashi then got her first groom followed by a photo shoot. The shoot wasn’t going so great. It was all a little much for the sweet dog until peanut butter arrived on set, and they were finally able to get some good pics.
While Tashi learned what a pet bed was, Rocky made her first ice cream and lots of dog treats. Tashi had to learn all about everything and was often fearful but sweet treats and lots of love helps her come out of her shell and get ready for her future home.
Priceless Pets held the adoption event and dished out the ice cream for all the pups in their care. All these small efforts and treats show the dogs love and affection and ultimately help them learn that there are good humans out there
Finally, adoption day arrived. There were 15 dogs and 12 people. Now it’s in fate’s hands if Tashi will go home with a new family. And, then it happens-a family with two loving kids chose Tashi. She’s found her forever home!
Thanks to the Beagle Freedom Project, Priceless Pets, Rocky Kanaka of Dog’s Day Out, and Tashi’s foster mom Karen, Tashi and the rest of the beagles found homes that day. We hope you enjoyed their story. As always, please feel free to share with your friends.
