It is hard work being a herding dog. So, when you need a nap, you must take one when you can. Even if that means ignoring a herd of adorable baby goats that are trying their hardest to keep you awake.
This Great Pyrenees is the keeper of the goats. It’s his job to protect the herd but even the hardest working dogs need a nap sometimes. So, the big, white fluffy dog lays down to try to catch up on his sleep
But his little herd of goat friends is doing their best to keep him awake. They are running around the pen, making a big racket. And, when that doesn’t work, they began jumping on the dog.
But not even a bunch of baby goats hopping on his back can keep this sleepy dog awake. He ignores the cute goats hopping on and running all around him. Even when they play king of the hill on his back, the gentle dog continues to sleep.
Finally, the dog opens his eyes and raises his head for a quick look around. It’s as if he’s saying, “hey, I’m trying to get some rest here.” But the goats would rather the pup get up and play with them than watch him sleep.
But what they think doesn’t matter because he soon drifts back to sleep. But the goats are still determined to keep the dog awake. They think it’s great fun to play all around him.
It seems like the harder the dog tries to ignore their games, the more the goats are determined to include him in their fun. But the sleepy pup doesn’t move. Not even when they walk up and sniff his fluffy fur.
It may be because the wise dog knows he has an important job to do when keeping the goats safe. Nighttime will soon be there, which means he’ll be busy guarding his little herd. A hard-working dog has got to get his nap in while he can.
It’s harder than it looks to ignore a bunch of rambunctiously adorable goats running around with wings on their tiny hooves. The dog must have great patience and love for his little friends.
